Working Experience Of Swatch Store

My classmates and I decided to do volunteer during the May holiday. Frank Huang contact a job for us to do volunteer at a Swatch store.

In the morning of April 29 about 9:30 A.M. We arrived at the personnel of Nanjing Ai Wa Nuo Company first. The manager give us tasks and clothes of Swatch, working clothes. She also told us the address where we would go to work to.

Then Bill, Frank and I arrived at the Swatch Store on Hong Wu Road quickly. Two big sisters told us what we can do. She told us the history of Swatch that Swatch is a brand name for a line of wrist watches from the Swatch Group, a Swiss conglomerate with vertical control of the production of Swiss watches and related products. In 1982, Swatch was conceived and it was introduced to the market in Switzerland in March 1983. Founded by Nicolas. G Hayek, Swatch was originally intended to re-capture entry level market share lost by Swiss manufacturers during the aggressive growth of Japanese companies such as Seiko in the 1960s and 1970s, and to re-popularize analog watches at a time when digital watches had achieved wide popularity. The launch of the new Swatch brand in 1983 was marked by bold new styling and design. The quartz watch was redesigned for manufacturing efficiency and fewer parts. This combination of marketing and manufacturing expertise restored Switzerland as a major player in the world wristwatch market. Synthetic materials were used for the watch cases as well as a new ultra-sonic welding process and the assembly technology. The number of components was reduced from 91 or more to 51, with no loss of accuracy.

After that, she let us to copy the name and the price of these new watches because it is useful when you sell them, you can introduce them to customers correctly. There are four themes of 2009. They are Mysteries of Nature, Spring boundless, Rust's time and the last one Sailing. The Swatch watches were high-tech and came in a variety of fashion and art design. One of them is my favourate, Its name is DISCRETE STONE. The gold surface under the dazzling diamonds seems more behind. Although, copying name is boring, I can enjoy the watches endlessly. We laso learned hoe to repair watches such as replacing the straps of the watches, packaging the straps of the watches. Don’t consider they are easy things. However, if you want to do it well, you need to spend a little time to pay attention. The hard thing for me is to sell watches because I am too shy to express me meaning to customers. However, Frank Huang did it very well. He is so outing that he can introduce watches to customers actively. So when he talk to customers, I stood near him and try my best to say something to customers. Gradually, I can do it better than the beginning.

Through this event, I find I can do something I am not good at well if I try my best. When we sell goods to customers, we need to look customers as God. This is my greatest achievement.

Religious Service

I had chance to attened a church activity. On April 25, I went to a Christ Church on Mo Chou Road of Nanjing to take part in a church activity with Frank Huang. It started at 7:30 A.M. I chose this particular religon because I need to finish my portfolio. It is not my willing.

At first, they started to sing hymn. Then we continue to pray, read the scriptures and bless. The learning of prayer I remember the most deeply. Pastor Zhang Junhua told us it is easy for them who believe Jesus to pray. But they can not say they had already learnt how to pray. He also told us mentality must be correct because God can know people’s hearts, if your mentality is correct, God will help you to do anything you want. However, if your mentality is wrong, you prayed would not be God’s pleasure. First, we need to have a kind, lenient heart to prayed for anyone including someone who is guilty. Second, we need to treat others with true heart. As the country's citizens to pray for the communitym, use the mentality of loving God to pray. Third, we need to have modest, pure hearts to trust God. Fourth, we need to have honest hearts to face God, to face yourself,to face everyone.

Although, to pray is boring, but there are too many truth you can find during the praying time. We have to learn how to tread others honestly, to express your honest heart.

Public Events

On February 21, 2009, I took part in a public conference hold by Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, Longjiang Branch of Nanjing Branch. The main speaker was Guo Hong.

The conference was hold on the third floor of Hong Ni Hotel from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. I came to the conference with my parents. When I came to there, I saw too many students from our school there. Some of them are my classmates. I chosen this conference because president Guo would introduce some learning methods from her daughter and told us some problem about the reserve study.

Gou Hong told us we need to adapt GCA in first term of Grade 10, then we must put oueselves into states. However, during the Grade 11, it is a hard year that we need to pay attention to develop the skill of Science. At the same time we must try our best to improve our English levels and we need prepare for the IELTS Test that we need at least 6.5 points. Finally, the year of Grade 12 is application year. It is also a year of psychological experience. We will grow up with our parents together.

During the whole conference, she has repeatedly stressed that GPA is the most important. At the same time, the cultivation of talent is also very important. The following time, she told us too much information about study abroad. I think the conference is useful for me. I can learn something from it. I know how to plan my life.

Go to a Performance

May holiday is coming, my classmate asked me to take part in a piano recital. The title of the concert is YOUNG CHANG Piiano Rectial because it was hold by Young Chang Comapany.

This piano recital is Shen Wenyu’s recital. He is considered as a genius pianist of China. Shen Wenyu was born on October 13, 1986 at a poor family of Chong Qing province. He started learning piano from six years old. He studyed less than one year and he can pass the test of six level. Then he often won awards in many International competitions.

The recital will begin at 7:30 P.M. , May 1, 2009 on Nanjing Cultural Arts Center where locates on Chang Jiang Road 101. I will join in this recital with Kevin, Dannie, Jim from 10-A, etc. I had arrived there when the time was 7:10 P.M. However, too many people had been here for a long time already. I chose this piano recital because I like piano, I like to enjoy the beauty of the piano sound.

When I came into the auditorium, there was almost no empty seat there. Not very long time, the recital started. I think I like the recital because not only the sound is so beautiful, also I can found the spirit does not succumb to the fate from his play. It was an interesting recital that when I felt the life of him, I also can enjoyed the pleasant taken by beautiful melody. When the recital over, we all cheered for him.

The Lunch Time Of My Class (10-F)

An exhibition of oil painting

I had appreciated Chinese painting and even learnt drawing it. However, for western oil painting, I have no ideas. Recently, I am interested in oil painting out of no reason.

Oil painting originated in Europe, around the 15th century by the Dutch invented to reconcile with linseed oil paint, after treatment of the cloth or on-board painting, because after the oil paints do not change color, to reconcile a variety of colors does not become dirty, artist can paint a rich, life-like color. At March 14, after we had lunch at Round Table Steak House, Wynn, Frank and I went to a small gallery called Hai An Shu Ye to appreciate an exhibition of oil painting. The small gallery locates near Confucius Temple and when we arrive at there by taxi, the time was one o’clock already. We chose this place because of free watching. Looking around the exhibition room, I found one artwork just like Hutong. I am interesting in this one because the artist put the western painting skill and Chinese culture together, so this artwork expresses the essence of the western painting and the plain view of Chinese Hutong.

The exhibition showed oil paintings almost were drawn by Chinese. Although I think they all drew it well, but still a little bit boring. If the gallery can shoe some artworks by international artists, it will be better.

The lunch of Round Table Steak House

There are many western restaurants locate in Nanjing 1912 block. Today I finally have a great chance to go there to have a super delicious lunch with my classmates, Kevin, Wynn, and David Du, a 10-E student.

Since Wynn and I all need to go to NFLS to help Ms. Hadley to paint the wall of the garden of GCA. And when we finished painting, the time was 11:30 A.M. So we hurried up to run to the school gate and took a taxi to Round Table Steak House at once because Kevin and David had been there waiting for us. When we arrived at there, the time was almost 12:00.

When we came into the restaurant, the waitress treated us with strong passion. There were lots of people having a lunch here because of noon. So she asked us to have s seats first and told us when there were empty places she would call us. I looked around at this free time. The layout of this restaurant is pretty good, simple but elegant, bright with comfortable. The small clean house with the green plants makes us have a feeling about western culture.

After found seats, the waiter helped us to choose food. There are eight kinds of food, and we need to choose one separately from these five kinds. I chose Fruit Salad, French Corn Soup, French Crispy Chicken, Orange Pudding and Ice Coffee American for my food. I really love to eat them, not only have main food, but also have delicious confections. The food in western countries is all grilled. However, the foods in China usually use oil to cook them. It’s different from western countries.

Most of people in here are teenagers. I think students can come to here to taste western food because of the cheap price if use student cards and good service. They can have a relaxed rest here after studing.

Movie Club Activity

I love watching movies. Hollywood’s movie gave me the best feelings. The fantastic actions of the movies can always attract me deeply. Hollywood is the hometown of movies. It locates at California, the USA, and a northern suburb of Los Angeles Urban West. It is also a world-renowned film city. Since the reputation of a great Hollywood film has often been linked to studios and movie stars. The movie industry had been start at here from 1980s last century. Hollywood not only to take movies, also make movies. Hollywood films’ stunt are becoming better and better with the Information Technology’s progress.

Filmmaking means the process of film production. The mature of the file determines the work required during the production team the size and type. Many Hollywood adventure films need computing images (CGI), must be an awful lot of 3D model designers, animators, dynamic depicts the division and other personnel to create.

I have a wish to make a movie. Although, it can’t like Hollywood’ films, I still can feel happy because I can make films by myself. So I joined in our school’s Movie Club created by David Tao. It is a very interesting club. At this movie club, there are some professional to teach us how to use some software to make movies. You can divided a short video and then let something you want out of this short video together with another background. There are some of the software can be used to make movies such as Ulead Video Studio, windows movie maker, and also Adobe Ultra CS3.

David Tao told us that GCA will make our own movies in the future and they need people to help him. First he needs us to learn from Frank Huang. Frank often makes movies. It is an easy thing for him. Today, we will learn how to make the virtual set. To say it a simple way is learning how to cut background. First I need to choose a short video that you had been took and insert it. Then I need to cut out the main body of the short video, just use mouse to make some points around the main body. The next thing I need to do is to choose a nice background and insert it and out put the main body I had already cut out. I was going to be successful. The finally things is to do some adjustment. If I want I can change the transparency, make the highlights much higher, make the shadows darker or lighter, change the hue more colorful, or let the color become saturation.

After learning how to make virtual set. I found that the fantastic scenes of the Hollywood’ films are easy to make. In fact, to make a fantastic movie is not more difficult than I image. Just you want to make movies and you know some filmmaking skills. You will also make a nice movie.

In fact, not only one person can finish a big movie. It need a lot of people to work together to finish. So the team spirits is the important point are required. No team spirits, it will be impossible to make a perfect movie.

Now our club has some professionals. They can make movies well. However, we now have fewer people to join in. We need more people to help us. I think we will make perfect movies in the future.

Improve my table tennis' skills

Table tennis is our national ball. When I saw our players shown their personal skills completely at the games and won the champions or the gold medals finally, I always can’t stop producing admiring feelings. I am not only proud of them, also our country.

When I was in Grade 1, I decided to learn how to play table tennis. But when I really started my table tennis training, I found that the training is boring, just few same actions, day by day liked the same. I started to want to give up it. Yes, I did. I didn’t continue to learn table tennis.

Although I stopped learning table tennis with coach, I didn’t stop my passion to table tennis. My father looked out this point. So he decided to teach me by himself. I played table tennis with my father when I had free time. At the beginning, I can’t control the racket skillfully. And I even made a mistake on starting ball. Gradually, the situation became better. My actions became professional and also my skills were more exquisite than the beginning. I started to love play table tennis and even enjoy it. Although my table tennis skills are better than before, I also had regret. I still didn’t know how to pulling the ball.

Until this winter holiday, I had a chance to learn how to pulling the ball. The different from before is that this time my coach is my mother’s friend’s child. He is a student of Su Zhou University. His table tennis skill is very perfect. He was in the Jiang Su province team. In my mind, pulling the ball is the most difficult. It is so hard. My coach told me that I need to look the ball as clock and I must use my racket to touch the location of 1 o’clock to 2 o’clock and pull the ball up. Otherwise I will not success. My power can’t be strong and I just can let the ball touch the racket a little. It is really difficult to control for every one. So the only way is to practice again and again. My sweat and effort are necessary. After several days of practicing, I finally can do the pulling the ball well. That time, there was exciting feeling that I can’t use language to describe flowing out of my heart. In fact, different balls just different problems. Using different ways to face different problems like using different skills to face different balls. Then you will find something surprising out of your mind.

I didn’t have any talent at table tennis. However, I also can play it well now because I practiced it again and again. I think I need to do every thing like learning table tennis. I do it hard can make up my clumsy. So I have confident to do every thing well. After learning table tennis this event, I know if you want to do something you want. Just do it. You will have a big success.

Besides, playing table tennis is good for my health. It is whole body movement. It can make my whole body get practice enough. After I finished my homework or at the end of the week, to play table tennis is truly a good way of lifestyle I think.

The volunteer work for Popular Book Mall of Nanjing

My classmate Michael's father is the Chief Executive Officer of the Popular Book Mall. So his father gave us chances to be volunteers for the Popular Book Mall.

I arrived at the Popular Book Mall at 1 p.m. on January 20th with Michael, Bill, Kevin and Frank Huang. We all arrived here on time because it is our first time to be the volunteer. Then Michael took us into the gate of the Popular Book Mall. At the same time, there was a manager treated us. She told us something we need to pay more attention including something we can do and something we cannot do. After she told us anything she needs to tell us, she took us to their staff office. We could get our own tasks at the staff room. She had prepared the work permits for us. My job is the same as Frank Huang. Our tasks are to help Ms Zhu to keep the books tidy, put the new arriving books onto the bookshelves, and we also need to walk around to ask customers not to sit on the books. Maybe there are some other tasks we need to do. These are all my duties and tasks. At the beginning, I thought it is easy to finish. In fact, it isn’t true.

Then we took part in our work immediately. At the same time, I had a special feeling that I felt a little bit dizzy because of those too many kinds of books. And most of those books are for children, so there were a lot of children came to read books. However, the most important point is that they always picked one book from one place and put it into another. This made me felt terrible. I can’t put these books into the right places accurately and immediately. Just this task had already made me have dizziness. But, when I did it a long time, I accumulate some experience. So I would do it better than before.

Another made me tired thing is put the new arriving books onto the bookshelves. There were too many books I need to put. Otherwise, I also need to make every Layer of the bookshelves had no more other place. It is so difficult for one person. Luckily, Frank Huang came to help me when I almost ran down. The thing seemed became easier when we had two people to do the task. We finished this task fast. Through this task I found that cooperation is very important at any time although it is just a small task. Cooperation not only can let you finish your task fast, but also can let you know how to work with others and can help you achieve more work skills.

Five hours volunteer time had been done. It is not easy I found. I felt too tired to stand up. When I came back to home, I first want to do the thing is sleeping.

The next day morning, I got up early at 7 a.m. I forgot the body and came to the Popular Book Mall on time. Then I started a new day. There were not many people because of morning. So I had nothing to do, just walk around and kept the books tidy.
But, Ms Zhu didn’t let me free. She told me to sell books. It is so harder than other things to me. I really don’t know how to recommend books to customers because I can’t communicate to people well and I am afraid of talking to others when I was a child. So this affects me deeply. Although I tried my best to chance it, I still can’t change this. Frank is better than me. He knows how to communicate to people and he knows the best way to sell books. He is activity. I am shy. So he can sell 10 more books. However I do nothing. I think this communication skill is very important for me in the future. I need to improve this ability and accumulate more communication experience for the future. Otherwise, I cannot adapt the community very well.

To have a perfect dinner with Grade 12 students

For learning more foreign culture, so, on the end of last month, I went to Tacos to have special dinner with some of my classmates and some of the Grade 12 students including Alice, Jack, Cissy etc. They tell us that we meet at that western restaurant on Zhu jiang road on the top floor of the Golden Eagle Area at 6p.m.

We arrived at Tacos early. However, we also needed to wait for some people. During this free time, I asked a Grade 12 student why we choose this place to have a dinner. He told me that because Tacos western restaurant is cheap and authentic. I looked around this restaurant, and I found that people who have dinner here are all young people. They were cheating with each other. The atmosphere here was so elegant that we were going to have a perfect dinner here I think.

Finally all the people arrived here. We could choose our own favorite food. I ordered a pizza with a beautiful name called Cheese Lover Pizza about nine inches. I love eating this kind pizza because there are lots of tomatoes and cheese above the pizza with a good smell. I tasted a little, “Yummy!” I said. The lemonade was also very cool. The elegant environment with relaxed music makes us feel happy. We had a good time here. Our Chinese usually eat rice and two to four other dishes. And we eat food use chopsticks. However, western people eat food with knives and forks. Fly in the ointment is that the service here is not very satisfactory. When we ate our food done almost, Bill’s pizza had not prepares for him yet.

All the things of Tacos are nice except the service is not very good. The price is cheaper and the atmosphere is elegant. I am going to recommend my parents and other friends to have dinner there. This restaurant will be a wonderful place to pass your time.

Wu Weishan Cultural Figures Sculpture Gallery of Nanjing Museum

Last Thursday, Ms Hadly and Ms Bartell took us to Nanjing Museum to appreciate sculptures of a Chinese artist called Wu Weishan.

Wu Weishan is Nanjing University professor, director of the Institute of sculpture art, religion and art direction graduate school instructors. He is also a contemporary sculpture artist and his artworks are both traditional and contemporary. The most artworks were being about showing the spirit.

He created a great number of influential figures and Buddhist sculptures in the past few years. I like one of his artworks. It is Confucius statue. He created Confucius statue at Year 2006.

The main body of this artwork seems like a four-prism. This is a gap in the middle of the four-prism. Using your imagination, you will find that they form the Chinese character-“中”. This is in line with the thinking of Confucius-Doctrine of mean. This artwork consisted of bronze and it was brown on the surface with a little bit aeruginosa. The lines are all straight. And the lines are obvious and neat. The lines, shapes of this artwork are both concise, focused freehand brushwork. The kind of face of Confucius expresses his thinking of ceremony. From this we can see China is a nation with etiquette from ancient to now. At the same time, this reflects the artist’s superb artistry. From his works, I have seen that Confucius was an erudite person and I also have seen his great thinking.

The statue of Confucius put his hand close to his chest together. He just looks like a Buddha. This action makes me feel Confucius is also a humble person. He often studied more knowledge from others, not only adults, but also children. This artwork also reminded me of Confucius’ book The Analects of Confucius. One famous word, “Three-line must be my teacher.” It teaches us we must have an open mind and chest to learn from others. I think even Confucius has done so, we are not exceptions. We also need to ask questions that you don’t understand to someone can teach you without shy. The thinking of Confucius affected our Chinese People deeply from long long ago. The artist wants to tell us that although we are far away from Confucius, but we also need to learn good things from Confucius because we are Chinese.

Of course, I like this artwork because it is good for the transmission of Chinese traditional culture and national spirit. I feel this way because China is a developing country; it needs strong national spirit to maintain its developing. I think so. This artwork has the values of appreciation because it contacts Chinese long-standing cultural and people can know about China more deeply. It is also a symbol of China and Chinese culture. It contains the essence of Chinese culture.

It is interesting for visiting the exhibits of sculpture. We cannot only see a lot of different kinds of artworks, also We can learn more about the artwork, sculpture, the artist, the culture of the artworks and even the artist’s country.
