The elegant beauty of Chinese classical gardens attracted me deeply when I at a very young age. However, it’s really glad to have choice to learn more about it at the Monday’s afternoon of this week. Luckily, we invited Mr. Zhao, the landscape architect, from Nanjing Forestry University to have a lecture for us.
He told us a lot of knowledge about Chinese classical gardens. First, he told the definition of gardens. The Department of Latin Garden, Garten, Jardin, and so out of the ancient Hebrew etymology of the word Eden and Gen combination: Gen said that the boundary wall, fence, Eden Park that is; Gen + Eden "Genesis of the Old Testament " mentioned in the flowers, trees full of the ideal living environment - "Garden of Eden" And the official definition is: "Plants, rocks, water, and so did a beautiful design of the living room."
He also told us other things. Such as the main types of Chinese garden:
1. Royal Garden
2. private garden
3. Temple (concept) garden
4. scenic landscape
His talk focused on the Suzhou Classical Gardens. The Suzhou Classical Gardens is the oldest urban forest, live history and culture and entering the landscape's poetry and painting. Moreover, Suzhou Classical Gardens are also known as the literary landscape garden. Many Literati had lived in Suzhou Classical Gardens to write down lots of famous poetries.
He stressed that at many of the landscape elements, to Hill, stone and water is most closely related. Traditional Chinese garden is the basic form of the natural landscape garden. "A pool of three hills," and "dependencies water and hills", "in front of the water and at back of the hills", "Hill with water to the mountain as a result of living water" and "Hill into a stream as a result of twists and turns, for low-mountain anywhere," have all become Chinese landscape garden’s basic law.
The most attractive garden is Canglang Ting. It uses through the turnip Furukawa River out side the wall to improve the charm of the garden.
His talk let me really know a lot about Chinese classical gardens. Classical gardens are one part of Chinese cultures. And Suzhou Classical Gardens are the best of them. In fact, for my thought that any gardens can make people’s mood pleasantly are all the wonderful gardens. Chinese classical gardens attracted me more deeply than before. I love Chinese classical gardens. I love Suzhou Classical Gardens even.
